‘My Values Shield: Exploring Things That Are Important’ is an activity designed to support children with exploring what matters to them. 

Life Values are what keeps us driving forwards and working towards our goals. This cut and stick activity encourages children to explore their 7 life values and things that are of value to them personally. This is a deep thinking activity that involves discussion and conversation amongst children.

  • Suitable for KS1 and KS2.
  • Ideal for Classroom use but also Therapeutic Practice.

 

How could this resource be used?

  • To support and promote what matters to us as individuals.
  • To encourage children to share their own priorities and to consider the things in their lives that are of upmost importance to them personally.
  • To explore with children their own individual and unique values of things that matter to them in their lives.

KS1:

KS2:

  • H16. about strategies and behaviours that support mental health — including how good quality sleep, physical exercise/time outdoors, being involved in community groups, doing things for others, clubs, and activities, hobbies and spending time with family and friends can support mental health and wellbeing.
  • R31. to recognise the importance of self-respect and how this can affect their thoughts and feelings about themselves; that everyone, including them, should expect to be treated politely and with respect by others (including when online and/or anonymous) in school and in wider society; strategies to improve or support courteous, respectful relationships.
  • R32. about respecting the differences and similarities between people and recognising what they have in com.
  • L7. to value the different contributions that people and groups make to the community.
