'What Do You Need From Me?' Activity (Mini Lesson)
‘What do you need from me?’ is an activity that allows your class of children to tell you specifically what they want from you as their class teacher. This helps you to meet their individual needs.
This Mini Lesson has been designed for you to pick up and go with minimal resources and time needed to complete the activity. The information sheet also includes step-by-step instructions on how to carry out the activity.
How could this resource be used?
- To support children to build a relationship and positive bond with their new class teacher and each other.
- To encourage children to feel part of a new classroom climate and community.
- To support with routines and class rules for improving classroom management throughout the school year and ensuring that all children feel safe and secure in the classroom

KS1:
- H19. to recognise when they need help with feelings; that it is important to ask for help with feelings; and how to ask for it.

- H22. to recognise that anyone can experience mental ill health; that most difficulties can be resolved with help and support; and that it is important to discuss feelings with a trusted adult.
